What does a late invoice really cost you in Ireland?

When a business client pays late, Irish law (S.I. 580/2012) lets you claim interest plus fixed recovery compensation. Enter the invoice to see the figures. No account or email needed, and nothing you type is saved.

For debts that became overdue from 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2026 the rate is 10.40% a year (ECB main refinancing rate 2.40% + 8 points).

Before you claim

  • This applies to business-to-business debts only, not consumers.
  • Your contract may set different terms. If the client was not responsible for the delay, or you had not done your part, the payment is not "late" under the regulations.
  • Where the overdue period crosses 1 January or 1 July, the official guidance is unclear, so the calculator does not guess.
  • This is a calculation aid, not legal advice. Read S.I. 580/2012 or ask your accountant or solicitor.
